are we allowed to start the author q&a? i don't want to make it sound like that's the reason i post here or anything lame like that, but i guess i did. i don't really have that many questions, though.
anyway, i wanted to ask. i was overlooking the calendar and noticed sabotencon was this month. how does miss ravyn find so many neat conventions to go to? i mean, they're not really around here so i guess i can't really go. that probably explains a little. what's it like, you know, trying to find a con to attend? how did you get into that?
if your name's not ravyn and you have an experience, please share! it's not that i want to ask only her.

There are actually two conventions sorta close to where I live that I could potentially go to but the one time I went to a convention (just a fan going to visit) I got incredibly sick. I don't do well in big crowds. If I ever get famous enough I might make more of a push to be a vendor or something like that. But until then I'm happy just being online. :-)

that sounds awful ally! i'm really sorry it didn't work out for you. i hope if you ever decide to go again that you don't get sick. and yeah i guess "just being a fan" is a huge part of people's motivation to go. thanks!

I do have to admit that I did have a lot of fun. I came in 4th place in a voice acting contest, but the people who won 1-3 were really, REALLY good. :-) My father came with me, which was hilarious since he doesn't like anime and sat there laughing at people the whole time. It was still really sweet because he took me, it was a birthday present and was on his best behavior so I could just be there. :-)

your dad sounds awesome though, he gave you a lot of support enjoying and doing what you like. and now you are a manga-ka! ;D you should go to your own con!
making fun of the people is half the reason to go, maybe. i mean, you wouldn't want to be mean but funny stuff happens anyway. did your dad catch hell for not wearing a costume? that's one reason i don't go to cons either -- i'm not sure if i can cosplay and i get the feeling it's expected of the attendees. what anime character would i look like? if it's a requirement, i'm sorta nervous ...!
voice acting is amazing too, i guess i can talk about that a little. i tried to voice act a few times and it didn't really work out because i'm not good enough at ununciating. though, whenever i have tosay some lines for ravyn she's happy. i guess i just need some practice.
speaking of, i hope ravyn finds the time to reply, i'd love her input!

I started going to cons when I was 11... My uncle looked online and found it and took me... from there, I went most every year... They're a very fun experience and the one I frequent most (FanimeCon) has so many different people... To quote my mother, who came with me this year, "I never realized how many different people come to these things... Anime appeals to so many different age groups..." Cosplaying is also a very fun experience, but it isn't really expected at most cons that I've gone to... It's mostly a 'for fun' kind of thing, sometimes they have contests to find the best costumes. Its very fun if you like to dress up. Voice acting is really fun. I'm not doing a great job at it yet, because my braces make me talk funny for some reason. =/ But I get them off within the week, so I wonder how I'd do with them off. ^_^

The only anime con that's near me is the London MCM Expo. Just recently went to my first ever convention this May, definately going again in October There were tons of cosplayers there, one guy was dress up as a giant pink bear! (I'm sure he was from an anime, but can't remember it). I like voice acting too! My friend who is currently in animation (as in nearly getting a degree in it) needs to do a lip-synch animation and says she'll probably ask me to do a voice *^^* how sweet!

Oh, freya that sounds fun!
Some cosplay can be kinda scary though. I saw a 40ish very obese man dressed as Sailor Chibi-Moon (mini moon, however you want to call her). And a small 8ish girl dressed as Faye Valentine. Both were...interesting. 0.o;

haganechibi, you'll be great! ;D just remember to take your retainers out before you start. oh, and you'll be wearing retainers for the next forty years. my dentist had the nerve to tell me i'll be wearing retainers for the rest of my life. she totally wasn't joking. but everything will be great with the retainers out. none are as scary as man faye, ally. good stories though! i seriously don't know if i would be able to cosplay or not; if anyone has any ideas for me, they're welcome to share those also! i'm curious, lol. i'm sure most of you, my friends, know what i look like or could find out. still i like this subject, thank you all for posting! i'll find a con to enjoy someday i guess.

Ally, we GOTTA go together next year. So many people wanted to meet you!
Joshua, at first, I had no idea there were any cons in the area! I started at Ice Escape where I met Jack Mangan. He told me about Leprecon and CopperCon. Once you get to one, they'll usually have advertisements about the other conventions and sometimes will even have spokesmen from different conventions there you can speak with!
Your best bet is to check your local comic book store and ask them about any comic, manga, anime or Japanese conventions! They will usually know.

Gah! Man-faye! I'll have to save some money! It would be cool to finally meet, and it would be fun for the fans to experience our first face-to-face too! I'm not sure when I'd be able to do it though...I'll have to look into it since I don't live anywhere in the west anymore. If only I still lived in Nevada! :-D

Ravyn has connections! Man-Faye? Obese man Sailor-chibi-moon? whoah, some people can be slightly odd in the head.
