They call me Hunter, but... that's not my name. My real name doesn't seem to matter much anymore. It hasn't ever since they caught me and the whole world changed. Ever since I became someone else’s property.
History states some of the greatest wonders of the world were built using slave or unpaid labor. While that is true in many instances, I have to wonder if they still would have been created without slaves. Such endeavors would have been expensive, but possible. It all depends on the big question: Would they have spent the money?
Odds are against that for many cases... I mean, look at what people are willing to do to each other for money. They'll sell each other out, sell their children, their friends... even themselves. They'll destroy the planet, torture and kill defenseless animals just so they can make money off their pelts, wear those pelts as a fashion statement to try and impress people, throw paint on those pelts to try and prove a point... all it does is lead to insults and hate.
There's so much hate in this world. One group hates another for wearing fur. Then that group hates the first one for hating them for wearing fur. They spend all their time arguing and ruining each other’s reputation or belongings, that nothing ever gets done. The wealthy people of this world run it more so than a majority of the elected or destined leaders. If the wealthy people wear fur, then it's acceptable to those who admire the wealthy. Those who fight them get into trouble.
... That's why I have Masters now. Because someone with power said it was fine, and his followers agreed. Then their followers agreed and it spiraled on. Anyone who disagreed was imprisoned too. They already torment and murder for fur, why not torment and murder for other things, too?
... That's why the odds are against it.
What if they earned one thing for giving up another? Long ago, the Comet Despair brought the Anasiens, a race of anthropomorphic animal people, too, who held the secrets of the gods. The world had to adapt to fit these new beings that were neither human nor animal. The massacres stopped. People were forced to get along with each other, because everything had started fresh and no one knew anything else than what was in front of them right then... but once again, one human ruined it.
Everyone says that one person cannot make a difference, yet so much is started by one person. One person who decided that the peace had to end. One person who decided that they didn't like that the Anasiens existed, didn't like that they might eventually consider themselves better, did not like that there was peace when, in their mind, there should be war.
Others agreed and they told others. Eventually, it came across that someone who was in power agreed, someone who had enough influence. Then a war started, all because of whispers among people who had ideas.
One voice can change a lot.
They hate me because I understand that fact. They've shown it to me, taught it to me, and only regret it. I guess they thought I'd be discouraged, I bet they assumed I'd consider that one person to be better and greater and grander than I myself was. I don't. Anyone can cause pain, anyone can cause some form of harm. It's much harder to do the right thing, I know, but if enough people see it and understand what is wrong, it can be fixed, so long as someone starts the movement.
If that someone has to be me, I'm ready for it. I'm not human, as you can see, I'm not fully Anasien, either. I'm a hybrid, and a servant, and... just a kid at thirteen years old. I don't have much working in my favor, but if others will follow, I'll show them the way.
The only question is... will you follow me and free this world?
