This is a basic guide for when you post your character bio
PTS: (Magical Character or non-magical character, Mage, whatever. Unsure? Ask a mod)
Name: (Characters name, nickname, whatever)
Age: (How old is the character, or how old do they look in the case of immortals)
Race: (Is the character human, vampire, cyborg)
Description: (A physical description. Height, build, hair, eyes, what style of clothes, anything that makes the appearance of your character unique. Be as specific as possible, but keep it short.)
Powers: (Any magical powers or abilities)
Weapons: (Any physical weapons)
Character: (What kind of personality does the character have. How do they react to others)
History: (Just a brief history. Take note... very few people will care much and the more you write doesn't give you more points.)
Weakness: (Required. EVERYONE has weaknesses. At least one easy way that the character can be killed. Not that your character will be killed... just... yeah. If your character is killed, it only means you have died in that thread, nowhere else. For example, Hunter’s weakness is in how young and small he still is, he is still par jaguar, he has fangs and claws, but he’s still only thirteen and he’s a little under average height and has had no formal training to fight. Abdalla cannot handle healing magick, Jesse has asthma, Cain will burn in daylight… do not just put “they can die any way a human can” if they are human because that is already implied.)
Of course, the thread creator has some the most say in if your character can be in their thread or not. If people complain, the mods will decide. Also, if you go against this and a thread creator comes to us... we're going to side with the thread creator. Do not start playing in an RPG unless the creator approves it.
Also, listen to the thread creators set out plot. Be aware that these RPGs are for fun and to play out the thread creators plot as well as get some practice in writing and have fun.
There are some things that shouldn’t be allowed, though.
Example:
Your character has an entire back story that has to be learned before you can play with anyone else.
I'm biased. RPGs aren't to create a whole life story of a character... if you have one, that's great! But the RPG is for everyone to have fun and do a scene as if they really were meeting. If you want a character with a full back-story, play one that already exists or start your own thread and state you want to do it as a full play out to work out your character’s back-story… but do remember, you’re welcoming others to join you in this. Do no try to control everything they do. If you want full control, write the story alone This should be more as practice or to give you ideas.
Please also note! If you create a few characters or even just one that you allow others to play, before they begin playing as that character, you can give them advice, tips, even examples of what a character would do in a situation… but once the game begins, it’s up to them. If they get something wrong, try to let it go. Do remember that it is nearly impossible for someone to get another persons character perfect, especially in an RPG. No one knows that character better than the creator. Before you comment, truly think about if it is worth commenting on… It is the exact opposite of what your character would do, not even close to a possibility of what they might choose and goes against the very principle of the character? (In example, making Hunter lash out against anyone that’s not trying to hurt someone. Making Dune go against his little sister in something that is not for her own good, just for his own gain. Making Jesse straight or Abdalla gay, making Cain human. Making Cammie being a good girl or Masami cheat on Dune. Things that really go against the character’s souls and nature. If someone made Hunter very nice to Mira or vise versa, that’s not a major thing. Having them be romantically interested in each other would be… very strange, but unlikely something to complain about. Having Dune forget to pick up Peola from an event is unusual for him, but possible. Not something worth arguing about.) Also, PM the person rather than posting a note for everyone to see. You do not want to embarrass them. If there is a major issue, contact a mod. Please do note; if the mistake has been there and four other people have replied to it, let it go. You don’t want to hold up the entire game to correct one thing.
Use your better judgment! Everyone will do fine.
