Do not continue if you have not finished the book, Predator Turned Prey, as there are questions about the ending. It will ruin the book for you. Last warning. Come on, you don't need to be here if you haven't finished the book... you can get it at just about any bookstore, or online! ...okay, warning over. (Warning added by Ravyn) Well sophomoric in speaking as, "the only stupid questions are those that are left unsaid." - Unknown (sorry i just forgot, i used to know) I just finished reading Predator Turned Prey and have some questions 1. Does Hunter die at the end? I thought he did but then there was that cliff hanger and I started wondering if there was already a sequel or one that was being planned. This probably sounds stupid but I want to know as I am a member of my school's Sci-Fi club and I don't want to tell my friends something that isn't true when I suggest this book. 2. Where did you come up with these names. I am writing, what will hopefully one day be published, a book about cat people as well (didn't mean to steal your thunder but I've been working on this story since long before I'd heard of neko anime let alone this book, Though I am very glad I did.) and names are horrible to come up with. I don't know if you can help as I am very icky as the book and the characters are actually based on my life. 3. Are you planning a sequel, prequel, or an unrelated sort of in the same universe but not Hunter's part of it. I re-read the rules before posting this and didn't see anything against it so please don't be frustrated if these questions ruin anything. Also if this is the wrong spot to put this please tell me and I will move it because I like the book and don't want t be banned from its forum.

Harry Potter is a wizard but that doesn't mean that J K Rowling stole the concept from Tolkien (who in turn stole from folklore? ), and there will be many stories with wizards which come after. The only reason to worry about something like that is if you've already plagiarized.

Ah, the ending is the question, isn’t it? The ending sums it all up. What sort of person are you, the ending asks.
Slavery still exists… a lot of people tell me they won’t fight against it, because they do not realistically believe it can ever end. They want to fight against animal abuse because they love animals, of course, who doesn’t? Child abuse awareness is becoming more popular in the media, as well! When I was a little girl, we rarely ever heard about it. They research the connection between animal cruelty and murder, and find that children who abuse animals are at a greatly increased risk of becoming criminals and murderers. We have commercials on television to end child abuse, starvation, homelessness, animal abuse. We are taught to recycle and fear strangers. That we should wear helmets and use caution when entering relationships.
Where are the commercials about looking for slaves? There are websites that support pedophilia. Websites that tell young children “this is your body, your choice, you should decide” so the perverts of the world can find easier victims… there are stories that romanticize slavery, too. Websites and forums, even movies like Pretty Woman, all romanticizing prostitution and there are far worse ones that have the slave beaten and abused but so in love with their master that in some twisted way they enjoy it but hate it at the same time; or enjoy hating it.
That’s why the ending is the way it is… to show that in real slavery cases, even if there might be a sort of friendship between slave and master (such as Mira and Hunter’s case), there has to be freedom for there to be friendship. My father… was my father. I loved him dearly, but I was not going to stay around and let him hurt me. Hunter and Mira’s friendship was based on lies… Mira wanted her ideal and was willing to trade to get it; Hunter was willing to go along with some of her ideas because it was leading her friends and her down a better path, but in all honesty … you are what is in your heart. Mira would never change, nor would Hunter.
Does he die? That’s for each reader to decide… will you let him die? A legend never dies… so long as he is spoken about, his message, his story is passed around and his words are spoken… he lives. Are you the type of person who will learn that slavery still exists and that it is ruining the lives of so many, and help fight against it? Then he lives in you?
Or will you let hope die? And with it, freedom’s hero?
There is a sequel in the works. The general rule, is that if PTP becomes a best seller, Hunter lives. If not…
The names I did not come up with, they already existed. Hunter’s names are Egyptian. I just worked with the Egyptian name principles to design a few, but their pieces already were present.
Matsi, Ayet, Piyip, Motomo, Chemuch… they, like it says in the book, are BlackFoot language names. The BlackFoots are, of course, a Native American tribe.
The names… when I come up with a character name, more often than not I see them when I see the characters. I’ll hear someone call… “Thierry, get down off there!” and I’ll see this character look, and I know that’s him.
Hunter’s name is a play off many different things, but primarily… I saw it when I saw him.
There are thousands of cat-people… I am in no way close to being the first to have cat-people, or animal people, the idea behind their creation and Hunter’s design are the only aspect I have full copyright to.
I had a few ideas for a line of stories in the same world… but we’ll see… I may conclude it in the next book, but I may still add a prequel.
Don’t worry so much about being banned, we’re really lenient here despite all the rules. We just want to protect people.

Sorry about the spoiler thing... that was my bad also I didn't see this sub board or I would of put it here. I will make PTP a best seller. My friends are allready turned on and I'm friends with two professional authors (other than you I guess you could say) and one of them is my uncle.
And you answered my questions perfectly thank you so much.
If I were to use a temporal paradox to alter the temporal stream and create metahumans (some part animals, and others who are elemental controllers would that be too like yours or is yours specifically limited to the comet)
once again sorry about the spoiler and thanks for moving it for me.

Good Hey, the spoiler warning thing is no big deal at all. Don't worry about it. Mine is not limited to a comet, it has to do with the gods creating something to alter the world because of what was going on there. So, it branches out from just "a comet hit"

The Comet Despair was created by the gods, especially Phoenix, to bring change to the world It was sent because the Emperor was at the point where he was having mass killings of innocent people simply because they were slaves. Putting them in cages and treating them like animals... so the Gods decided "Wouldn't it be funny is...." and you know the rest. (yes, I know it was more serious than a "jokes on you, now you ARE animals!" thing) It goes on the principle of "And that which you do to the lowest of society, you do to me."

Nice elaboration but that answers my question as while your events are based on higher powers (I'm Christian, but so that this is not denouncing any one god, the vague term) Where as the event I am referring to will be explained using a system of intertwining highly disputed scientific theories that even at fifteen I understand and have created a somewhat bridge in my mind. Too complicated to explain here. Not saying you won't get it saying I don't have the patience to type it all.
He he thanks again. and again and again... to cover the next times I say it for no apparent reason.

I'm generally Christian, too, you'll find a LOT of Christian aspects in my writing... I don't wish to convert people to a religion, nor do I wish to offend, so I stay rather vague (More so than Narnia which is so obvious XD I love it).
There are multiple "gods" in PTP as there are in mythology, but it shows rather quickly that they.... aren't running the show.
I had a few people who wanted to do the manga, wanting to change how the Anasiens got their life... they wanted it to be very scientific. They based the idea on when Hunter is talking about if he is a creation of a science experiment gone wrong (Possible hint for book 2...), and wanted it so the Anasiens were created that way to "remove the religious influence from the story" ... I of course turned them down because I feel no need to town down the religions on my stories. That and, to me, it feels overdone with the genetic mutations and lab rat theories... there's at least 4 animes dedicated souly to the "science made me wrong" ideals for animal people. My authors advocate at the time said "It's a lack of creativity there... a lack of a belief in something other than science and even then it makes science seem evil, which isn't good as science also cures diseases. Evil scientists have come and gone and come again, and there needs to be more fantasy in fantasy." Thus, we left it how it is.
A few members of this forum are declared atheists and they have no issues with it, so I'm obviously not offending anyone. I also believe the whole "freedom OF religion not FROM religion" since I was practicing mostly Wicca when I wrote PTP.

He he thanks for showing me my lack of originality wait a minute no one but me that I know of has had a scientist do this to help the earth. Or include temporal paradoxes which are just as hard to understand as saying it 27 times fast. however it allows for justification of events without creating plot holes. Hence the reason I chose it.
No mad scientists in mine kind of a disappointing occurrence to most of my friends they wanted something like that (even though I told them it wasn't)
Thank you for contiuing to answer my questions even the ones i didn't...ask? how do you do that ooh Psychic right?

Nah, I'm talking about what I did, that's all. You never fully explained your idea so if it's original or not is not for anyone here to judge So don't worry. I'm just trying to answer everyone's questions ^_^ Besides, if it is that idea, that's fine, too! Lots of people do it, so it seems to be a popular idea and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! People like is, they want to see more. It's fine to choose common ideas, but it is always best to make sure no plagiarism is going on by researching the idea and seeing and being sure "Hm... I love this author, am I perhaps being influenced by them?" If so, change it and you avoid problems! I have at least 5 people who read the same stuff I do go over my stories before I put them out in the open so that people can tell me if "hm, this is too close to this idea". Also, I read only in the genre I'm not currently writing and I read mostly research... which can be so very boring... Psychic? Maybe... muahahahaha... I tend to just answer everything I can think of that is related to the topic, so that I can be sure I've answered the question to the full extent of my capabilities.

Nice philosophy.
The having friends who read the same as me is a good idea too.
And I totally knew there was something supernatural (that's what I was talking about with the philosophy thing)
You are really good at answering questions but yet making more questions and after thoughts. I can usually do similar things but um... I can only do it with subjects I am sure I know exactly what I'm talking about. Haven't quite gotten there with Human Trafficking but i am working on it.

hehehe, Human Trafficking is a BIG issue.. you have to be actively involved in order to truly see the affect. But it can be done!
Anyway, PLEASE leave a good review on amazon.com AND bn.com! ^_^
