Today, November 14th, 2008, I was lucky enough to be invited to Countryside Elementary School in Surprise, Arizona!
The students there were amazing! Very attentive and polite, they interacted and joined in very well, all if them were so very smart, too! I had a wonderful time and this is the first time I have had such a wonderful experience at an elementary school. I gave away some bags and some pens as well as a mug, a book and a few balloons as well as giving everyone a bookmark. I was so happy to see how well they paid attention despite my late arrival.
Right from the start, these students showed me something that has been missing from so many of the presentations I give to young students; respect and kindness. They were polite, patient and informative! They sat very close to my table and no matter where I paced, they kept their eyes on me.
These students had a great memory, too. I have a game I play at school presentations where I teach them a word in Riel. When I said “Hello” they were to say “Amoniti”. When I say “Amoniti” they say “Hello” Not once did they drop the ball on this, they caught it every single time, I could not catch them off guard! They learned very quickly and they asked a lot of questions, but also provided a lot of answers! These 6th graders knew a lot and none of them seemed shy to share that knowledge, which was great! I was very impressed with how willing they were to participate, and how well they did with it! They had very expressive personalities and wonderful minds. I greatly appreciated their responses! They knew so much!
I'll post pictures here once I get them ready!
Oh! And to all students from Countryside, the Comic is here! www.ravyncrescent.com/school/index.html
